In 2005, IMEF and the Odyssea French Language Schools (created in 1983 and 2001 respectively) came together to form the Institut Européen de Français. As a result of the merger the Institut Européen de Français now offers not only the widest variety of French courses in France but also has the highest level of teaching expertise. So no matter what your linguistic requirements are we have the program that will best suit your needs.

The ideal location

L’Institut Européen de Français is situated in the heart of Montpellier’s pedestrianised historic city centre with local access to all of the shops, museums, restaurants and amenities on offer. The school itself occupies a beautifully renovated 17th century building and features bright, airy classrooms and learning areas which provide a perfect study environment for our students.

Personalised attention

Class sizes are limited and organised by skill level to make sure that all students learn in the best environment. The progress of all students is continually monitored and evaluated each week to ensure that we ease them through their educational levels at a pace that suits them best. A certificate of French study is rewarded to all participants who have followed the coursework conscientiously.

Optimal organisation

As with the student’s progress, group composition is reviewed each week in accordance with the participants’ needs and requirements to enhance the learning capabilities of the group. All of our students benefit from free access to the pedagogical resource centre with over 4,000 reference materials, and free unlimited Wi-Fi connection which can be accessed anywhere in the school. We also offer a range desktop computers which are at the student’s disposal in the student lounge.

Complementary services

An informal information meeting for all new arrivals, guided visit, and a “welcome aperitif” are organised each week to help the students to get to know each other and our staff. We also offer a program of cultural, athletic and specialty tours with professional guides, which is organised through our cultural events team who inform all students of upcoming events each week.

And to help all students to keep learning outside the classroom cultural conferences are held all year round at the school alongside themed “soirées” which always prove to be fun and popular.
